Commercial poultry prices across Egypt held steady on Friday following a recent four-Egyptian-pound upward movement, according to official data released by regional agricultural exchanges, wholesale bourses, and retail monitoring stations across the country.

The latest market updates confirm that farmgate wholesale rates for standard white chicken stabilised at 65 EGP per kilogram. In municipal markets and neighbourhood retail outlets, consumer purchasing prices held at an average of 76 EGP per kilogram, reflecting standard distribution costs, regional transport fees, and retailer profit margins across urban centres, including Greater Cairo and neighbouring governorates.

Sasso poultry, a widely consumed red-feathered breed, likewise maintained steady valuation across trading platforms during Friday’s business hours. Farmgate prices for Sasso birds held firm at 86 EGP per kilogram, while local butchers, specialised poultry vendors, and supermarket chains sold the stock to end-consumers at a stabilised average of 96 EGP per kilogram.

The price levelling follows weeks of minor market volatility and comes as domestic poultry producers adjust to ongoing shifts in feed costs and seasonal supply dynamics within the nation’s livestock sector. While previous trading sessions recorded moderate price surges across primary exchanges due to fluctuations in imported feed components, current inventory levels have temporarily checked further inflationary jumps, providing short-term budget relief for Egyptian households.

Government oversight bodies and representatives from the Egyptian Poultry Association continue to monitor live-trading operations across main farm gates and regional distribution hubs to prevent predatory pricing and maintain reliable supply lines. Because domestic feed availability and global grain valuations directly drive local production overheads, commercial operators anticipate that domestic poultry rates will remain closely tied to international commodity movements and local energy costs as the month progresses.

Industry analysts note that maintaining stable farmgate pricing remains crucial for sustaining production capacity among small and medium-sized poultry farmers across rural provinces. By mitigating sharp cost spikes at the wholesale level, market regulators aim to balance profitability for local producers with affordability for working-class consumers navigating broader economic pressures.
