As part of the plan to meet its national objectives, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is working on hotel development with private developers. Authorities estimate that Egypt will need to add tens of thousands of new rooms over the next five to six years, effectively doubling its current hospitality footprint.
Special financial incentives and streamlined licensing processes are being introduced to attract foreign direct investment into key development zones, particularly along the Mediterranean North Coast and around major cultural hubs, ensuring that national infrastructure keeps pace with global demand.
Financial metrics reflect a parallel upward trajectory for the North African nation’s hospitality sector. Mid-year economic data confirms that tourism revenues surpassed 6.6 billion dollars, marking a solid increase over the previous year’s performance. The sector remains a vital engine for national growth, generating roughly 12 per cent of Egypt’s gross domestic product and supporting nearly three million direct and indirect jobs.
To sustain this upward momentum, authorities are accelerating comprehensive infrastructure reforms. Strategic plans remain anchored on increasing international flight operations and expanding global promotion campaigns to tap into emerging markets. Official long-term targets aim to double total annual visitor arrivals to 30 million over the coming years through significant private sector investment and enhanced visitor experiences.
