The Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation has completed the preparation for the 9th Cairo Water Week, set to be held from October 25 to 29. The high-profile international forum will witness the participation of 11 ministers and special representatives along with four deputy ministers and delegations to discuss the key hydrological issues affecting the world along with the issue of regional peace and environmental sustainability.
Cairo Water Week, taking place under the general theme of “Water as a Catalyst for Peace, Shared Prosperity, and a Sustainable Planet,” is an important preparatory step towards the 2026 United Nations Water Conference. It is organized in collaboration with the European Union and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
Throughout the conference, international delegates, researchers, and policy institutions will convene across 114 specialized technical and scientific sessions. Agenda items focus heavily on capacity building within Africa and the Arab world, bilateral Nile Basin partnerships, and strategic frameworks such as the African Water Facility Strategy 2026–2030. A dedicated symposium hosted in collaboration with China’s Ministry of Water Resources and the World Water Council will specifically target future water security models.
Concurrently, the venue will host the seventh Arab Water Conference from October 26 to 27, alongside a formal meeting of the Arab Ministerial Water Council. An international trade exhibition spanning water infrastructure, wastewater management, and renewable energy will run from October 26 to 28, featuring 16 corporate pavilions.
Academic contribution remains a core pillar of the summit. Out of 122 research abstract submissions received by the scientific committee, 104 were accepted following primary evaluation, with top-tier papers slated for publication in the journal World Water Policy. The summit will also host competitive tracks for emerging researchers and student innovators.
To support seamless delegate participation, organizers are launching an upgraded digital registration platform and secure mobile application, ensuring streamlined session management and robust data protection across all scheduled events.
